Is there a stand down period for respondents?

How Tracksuit limits respondent frequency using a 3-month stand down period

Updated over 2 weeks ago

🧢 Coach T's Recap

At Tracksuit, we prioritize fresh, unbiased data. That’s why we implement a 3-month stand down period for respondents, ensuring your insights are current, diverse, and reflective of true market sentiment.

When it comes to brand tracking, data quality is everything. That’s why at Tracksuit, we’ve built a comprehensive approach to keep our insights fresh, accurate, and reflective of real-world sentiment. One of the ways we do this is through a 3-month stand down period - a quality safeguard we use in most markets to limit how often respondents can participate.

While New Zealand is an exception due to its smaller population size, rest assured: we apply rigorous quality controls across every market we operate in, including NZ, to maintain the same high standard of reliability.

What is the stand down period?

In every market we operate in (except New Zealand) respondents who complete any Tracksuit survey are placed in a 3-month stand down period. That means, once someone has completed any Tracksuit survey in their market, they won’t be invited to participate in another one for at least 3 months.

Because we track hundreds of categories, the chances of someone completing a survey for your category more than once is extremely low - but the stand down is there as a safeguard just in case.

This stand down period helps ensure that 👇

  • Your sample stays fresh: You won’t be hearing from the same people month after month, which keeps your insights current.

  • Bias is reduced: By limiting repeat participation, we reduce the risk of survey fatigue or respondents “learning” the survey and gaming their answers.

  • You get a true read of market perception: You're tapping into a broader, more diverse audience over time. Not just a pool of habitual survey takers.

Why is New Zealand an exception?

Due to its smaller population size, New Zealand uses a slightly different sampling approach. However, we still apply strict quality controls to ensure trustworthy results and continuously monitor for any impact to data quality.

The stand down period is just one part of our comprehensive data cleaning process. For more on how we ensure data accuracy, check out our approach to cleaning the data.
