🧢 Coach T's Recap

With DMA and State-level filters, you can gain a more granular view of your brand performance in the US, allowing you to make data-driven decisions that are tailored to specific regions, whether it's for internal reporting or understanding localised market trends.

At Tracksuit, we believe in giving you the clearest view of how your brand is performing, from the national stage through to localised areas. That’s why we offer the ability to enable DMA (Designated Market Area) filters or State-level filters.

What is a DMA?

DMA stands for Designated Market Area a US-specific regional breakdown developed by Nielsen to group together TV markets and local media regions.

There are 210 DMAs across the United States, each representing a unique local market. Think: “New York,” “Los Angeles,” “Chicago,” or “Tampa-St. Pete.”

DMA filtering lets you go beyond census divisions and see how your brand is performing in the local areas that matter most to your business.

Why would I want DMA or State-level filters?

Your Tracksuit data already shows how your brand stacks up across the entire US market. But there are moments when going local gives you the edge 👇

  • Local brand health monitoring: When your brand activity is focused on specific areas, DMA or State filters help track performance exactly where your brand is engaging with consumers. Whether it's local promotions, partnerships, or area-specific messaging, these filters give you a clear view of how your brand is resonating in key markets.

  • Deeper insight into local preferences: Different markets have different behaviours. What’s working in New York might look totally different in Texas - filtering helps you see that nuance.

  • More meaningful stakeholder reporting: If you’re reporting to local teams, retail partners, or regional leadership, DMA or State-level data can help you tell the most relevant brand story in each market.

Where can I find this in my dashboard?

For US dashboards, there are hundreds of DMA and State-level filters to choose from. To keep your dashboard focused, we recommend reaching out to your Brand Champion to enable the most relevant filters for your business.

Once these filters have been switched on, you’ll see the available options in the demographic dropdown menu across the Funnel, Conversion, Statements and Media Consumption pages.

These filters will allow you to view both category-level and brand-level insights specific to the regions that matter most to your business.
