How do I use milestones?

Milestones let you mark key brand and market moments directly on your Timeline view

🧢 Coach T's Recap

Milestones help shape your data into a narrative, layering in further context that can bring your brand story to life.

Your brand doesn’t exist in isolation, and neither should your data. Whether it’s a recent brand initiative, new distribution partnership, or a competitor’s big move, seeing these moments alongside your brand metrics helps you tell a clearer, more insightful story.

Milestones let you mark key brand and market moments directly on your Timeline, helping you explore how trends evolve alongside real-world events.

The benefits of using Milestones

  • Add context to your metrics: Mark campaigns, launches, or external events to see how they line up with movements in your metrics over time.

  • Investigate competitor movements: Track major competitor moments to compare brand health trends and see how your brand stacks up.

  • Build better reporting: Support your story with context. Whether it’s a new message in market or a shift in distribution, Milestones help you add colour to your reporting without jumping to conclusions.

  • Keep teams aligned: From marketing to leadership to agencies, milestones help everyone stay across what’s happening and what it’s impacting.

Add a milestone

Adding a milestone is simple:

  1. Click the ⚙️ settings cog in the top right of your dashboard

  2. Select Milestones

  3. Click Add milestone and choose the type:

    • Brand activity – for yours or a competitor’s

    • Macro event – think broader, like legislation changes, pandemics, product recalls, changes to supply chain or shifts in distribution

  4. Include dates and description, and hit add!

Once added, your milestone will appear as a vertical line on the Timeline, making it easy to spot in your data.

Manage visibility

You have two easy ways to control what you see:

  • Hide individual milestones by clicking the 👁️ eye icon next to them in the Milestones tab

  • Hide all milestones by toggling them off in the Timeline Graph Options menu

This gives you full control over how much context is displayed across your Tracksuit account.
