🧢 Coach T's Recap
Not all data points are created equal. Tracksuit’s sample size indicators help you understand how confident you can be in each result, so you know when insights are ready to act on and when they should be treated as directional.
Knowing how many people your data is based on adds valuable context. That’s why we display sample size indicators directly in your Tracksuit dashboard. These indicators help you gauge whether results are strong enough to act on or better used as directional signals.
First, what is sample size?
Sample size is the number of respondents included in a specific dataset or filtered view, also referred to as 'base size'. Sample size can vary depending on the category, brand, date range, and demographic filters applied. As you filter down into the data (for example, by age, region, or audience segment), sample sizes naturally get smaller.
How do the sample size indicators work?
Every report in your Tracksuit dashboard comes with a visual cue to help you understand the strength of the results, based on how many responses are behind the data.
Here’s how to read them 👇
✅ No warning
You’ve got enough data to confidently make decisions and take action on these insights.
⚠️ Indicative
This result offers a directional read but we don’t recommend using this for strategic decision making. You can select additional demographics or extend the date range to make this an even stronger sample.
🚫 Insufficient sample
This group is too small for reliable analysis. Try making the sample larger by selecting additional demographics or extending the date range.
Sample size indicators help you choose the right level of confidence for each insight, so you know what’s ready to share, what’s exploratory, and what needs more data.
When you’re:
Building reports
Briefing stakeholders
Exploring new audience segments
Keep an eye on the indicators. They’ll help you understand what’s reliable, what’s directional, and where you may need to zoom out before acting.
