🧢 Coach T's Recap
Every number in your dashboard is based on real people answering surveys. Confidence level and margin of error help you understand how close those numbers are likely to be to what’s true in the real world. It’s one of the ways we make sure your insights are trustworthy, actionable, and aligned with global best practice.
Your brand health data doesn’t come from asking everyone in the country, it’s based on a sample designed to reflect your full market. The confidence level and margin of error tell you how strong that sample is, and how much variation you might expect.
This helps you 👇
Trust what the data is really saying
Avoid taking action on insignificant movements
Make decisions based on real, reliable signals
And because different vendors have different standards, it’s worth knowing:
Tracksuit follows the global gold standard for brand tracking - a 95% confidence level and sample sizes that support reliable, high-quality insights. This means your data is held to the same standard used by leading research firms.
What’s the margin of error?
The margin of error tells you how much a number might vary if we surveyed the entire population, not just a sample.
At Tracksuit, we start with a maximum margin of error of ±3.9% when looking at a national read. We also tailor sample sizes to market size and population.
Here's what that looks like by default:
Market | Default margin of error |
AU, NZ, IE | ±3.9% |
US, CA, FR, DE, UK | ±3.1% |
If you’ve purchased extra sample, your margin of error will be even smaller.
What’s the confidence level?
Tracksuit uses a 95% confidence level, which means:
👉 If we ran the same survey 100 times with different groups of people, we’d expect the result to land within the margin of error 95 times out of 100.
This is a global benchmark for reliable brand tracking and we’re proud to bring that standard to a much more accessible, easy-to-use platform.
Data you can stand behind
Tracksuit's globally aligned methodology means you can stand behind the numbers with confidence whether that's for reporting to the board, reviewing a campaign, or planning your next move. We take care of the technical details like significance testing, sampling, and error margins so you can focus on what matters: making smart marketing moves and building a stronger brand over time.
